On January 29, 2021 in the Cañaviri Sub Central made up of the Jiska Ch'uru and Cañanaviri communities of the municipality of Umala and on February 24, 2021 in the Capunuta community of the municipality of Patacamaya, both belonging to the Aroma province of the department of La Paz, 27 producers in Cañaviri and 38 farmers in Capunuta between women and men attended to participate in training and demonstration workshops in potato plots on the efficient use of bio-inputs, to improve the growth of potato plants fumigating with the product Vigor Top, how to help make plants regrow after a frost or hailstorm, likewise, learn about the life of insects that damage potatoes such as the Andean weevil and potato moth, as well as learn about the forms of control using bioinsumos, in the case of the potato moth, it was indicated that pheromone traps can be used to capture adult males and fumigate with BioMax in the flowering stage.
The training workshops aimed at potato producers were developed and facilitated by engineers Eliseo Mamani and Ariel Paco, technicians from the Foundation for the Promotion and Research of Andean Products (PROINPA), within the framework of the project "Strengthening and promotion of the use efficient use of bio-inputs for pest management and crop nutrition in the Bolivian Altiplano”, financed by the Swiss and Swedish Cooperation, executed by Swisscontact in partnership with the PROINPA Foundation. With the purpose of strengthening the management of names and uses of bio-inputs, wall calendars were given to farmers.
